Our belief in providing flexible solutions has made us able to meet most requests from a diverse variety of clients and markets. The following questions are the ones we hear most often. If you cannot find what you are looking for, please use the link at the end of the page.
Assessment and Evaluation
Is assessment included in the price of the programme?
A customized online assessment about the relevant skills and expectations is included in the training price. This is done through an online tool developed by Campanile. Additional charges apply to assessment tools such as psychometric assessment and assessment interviews.
Is it possible to measure things such as ‘pro-activeness’ or ‘communication skills’?
Skills are difficult to measure, but the impact of those skills on performance can be quantified. We start by looking at the current methods of performance management of our client, and use it to benchmark the success indicators of the training. We will offer our client a choice of success indicators to define the desired outcome of the programme.
Which third-party assessment tool does Campanile use?
There are numerous good assessment tools in the market (and even more bad ones). We use a number of internationally recognized assessment systems, which we recommend based on client needs and our own experience with their application. If our client has used a tool that we cannot offer, we can incorporate it into our services, although we need to familiarize ourselves with it first.
Training
What is the ideal size of a training group?
We recommend training groups of 10-15 people. Fewer than 10 people will make lively, interactive learning difficult. In larger groups of 20 or more, individuals do not get sufficient attention from the facilitator.
What is the ideal length of a training programme?
We do recommend that participants are allowed time to learn, practice, apply, even to forget and re-learn. In our experience, 1-2 day training with no follow-up brings low return-on-investment, unless it focuses on a very specific set of skills. We encourage our clients to aim at 3-month to one-year programmes with multiple (4-10) training days and follow-up after the courses.
Will training participants receive printed materials?
Each participant receives a printed booklet, including the description of tools and methods, exercises, and templates for action plans.
Does Campanile follow up after completed training programmes?
We do. Most of our programmes include follow-up sessions, where participants do not learn new skills; they apply previously learned methods to their daily work with the facilitator’s help. We also offer other follow-up methods such as regular post-training assessment and support for management in applying the training content.
We don’t want participants to sit and listen. How will you make them active at the training?
By careful assessment, Campanile identifies the most important skills, and delivers it in a focused and interactive setting. We start by discussing challenges in daily work. We go on by learning new methods, we brainstorm then in small groups and apply them to simple, work-relevant case studies. Finally, breakout groups apply the new methods to real work problems, present their results and create action plans for future work.
Does Campannile collect feedback from participants?
We collect feedback using customized feedback forms. We then analyze the received feedback and submit a detailed report to our client.
Can our company use its own evaluation and/or feedback template for the training?
In our previous projects, we have used Campanile’s own evaluation and feedback system, we have used the client’s standard system, and sometimes we combined the two. With our experience of customization, all needs can be met.
Where will training take place?
Campanile courses are all in-house, and most of them take place at the client’s location. However, if our client needs support in finding a suitable location on budget, we will be happy to help.
Does Campanile offer public training?
We do not: All our courses are in-house. If you have a small group or small budget, arranging online training can be a low-cost, high-yield alternative.
Can Campanile deliver in languages other than English?
Our current standard delivery languages are English and Mandarin Chinese. We have also delivered services in German, Spanish and Hungarian. In our diverse, multilingual pool of experts, other languages such as Japanese and Dutch can be available on request.
Coaching
Is coaching always one-on-one?
Not necessarily, although most of it is. Coaching is a very intensive and honest exchange, therefore it is more convenient to conduct one-on-one. We recommend group coaching (for 2-5 people) for open, unrestricted communication and support within a small team with clear objectives (e.g. management or sales team). We do not recommend group coaching as a cost-cutting measure.
How is coaching different from training?
As opposed to training, coaching is a long-term, very intensive interaction between coach and client. Trainers deliver skills and help participants practice them in simulated situations. Coaches listen, give feedback and build commitment while the coached person applies coaching results over a longer period of time.
Does Campanile recommend coaching skills training to managers?
Internal coaching is a very powerful tool of effective people development, but we need to be familiar with its limitations. Some managers will make great coaches, but the majority will not have the time or patience to become coaches and to coach others regularly. The company will have to invest about 100 hours in each person to become a coach, and should expect management and coaching responsibilities to be in conflict. We recommend coaching skills training to a small number of carefully selected managers if there is a very strong reason, and clear return-on-investment.
Online Training
Can online training deliver the same value as face-to-face training?
Yes, although the delivery method will be different. While most face-to-face training takes place in half-day or one-day sessions, online training is delivered in 90-minute to 2-hour batches. Thus, the same skill set will take longer to deliver online, but the impact on productivity will be the same.
