The workshop entitled “Intercultural Skills: Perspectives of an insider in being an outsider” was a privilege to hold for a number of reasons. First, a seaside retreat is always welcome as a workshop location, and De Baak‘s Noorwijk venue is a genuine spot to relax, think and learn. More importantly, the participants of the workshop were a stimulating and very sharp group of De Baak colleagues, clients and associates.
The focus of the workshop was doing business in China. The group brought together an impressive cross-cultural experience in the form of time spent abroad, ethnic background and genuine openness. Since the participants were no newbies to cross-cultural business, we soon turned our attention to more profound challenges of working in a culturally challenging environment.
